What an amazing turnaround! In January 2009, I pitched an approach to fix Ausra’s technology. We then changed our business model and closed a cram-down round to sustain the company until we could find a buyer. Ten months after this article appeared, we had sold Ausra for $275 million, and after another year as AREVA Solar had built a billion dollar backlog.
